Publishing Principles

Our Commitment to Ethical Code Compliance Reporting

At SNITCH, we believe in fair, transparent, and responsible code compliance reporting. Our mission is to help individuals and communities navigate the code enforcement process professionally and legally while preventing misuse of the system.

Our publishing principles reflect our dedication to accuracy, integrity, and public accountability in every complaint we process.

Commitment to Accuracy & Integrity

Fact-Based Reporting

  • All complaints must be based on verifiable facts, not assumptions, personal disputes, or hearsay.
  • Submissions should include photos, descriptions, or supporting documentation whenever possible.

No Frivolous or Retaliatory Complaints

  • We do not accept complaints that are false, misleading, or intended for harassment.
  • Repeated complaints about the same issue must include new evidence before resubmission.

Basic Verification Process

  • While we do not conduct investigations, we perform preliminary checks to ensure complaints appear credible before filing.
Transparency & Public Accountability

Clear Complaint Identification

  • Complaints are filed under SNITCH’s name, clearly indicating they were submitted on behalf of a client.

No Anonymous Complaints

  • Florida law prohibits anonymous code complaints. Every submission must include a name and address before an investigation can begin.  For a paid client, we file under our name.

Public Records Compliance

  • Complaints submitted through SNITCH are subject to Florida’s public records laws.
  • We comply with all lawful requests for disclosure regarding filed complaints.
Ethical Use of Code Enforcement Resources

Code Enforcement Should Serve the Public, Not Personal Interests

  • Code enforcement is designed to protect communities, not to be misused for personal revenge, harassment, or business competition.
  • Complaints should focus on legitimate code violations that impact public safety, health, or legal compliance.

Preventing System Abuse

We do not process complaints that:

  • Are filed to harass or retaliate against individuals or businesses.
  • Lack credible evidence or are resubmitted without new violations.
  • Are used as a tactic for gaining a competitive business advantage.
Privacy & Data Protection

Protecting Client Confidentiality

  • SNITCH does not sell, trade, or misuse client data.
  • Personal information is only used for complaint processing and legal compliance.

Compliance With Privacy Laws

  • We follow Florida’s public records laws and all applicable data protection regulations.
  • If a third party requests records related to a complaint, we notify the client when legally required.
Editorial Independence & Impartiality

No Preferential Treatment

  • We process all complaints fairly, without bias toward political views, businesses, or personal connections.

No Financial or Political Influence

  • SNITCH does not accept payments, incentives, or outside influence to prioritize or suppress complaints.
  • Complaints are evaluated solely on legal merit, ensuring fairness in enforcement.

Transparency in Partnerships

  • If we collaborate with attorneys, compliance experts, or advocacy groups, we disclose these relationships clearly.
Community Engagement & Public Interest

Providing Public Education

  • We offer guides, FAQs, and blog content to help people understand code enforcement laws and reporting best practices.

Promoting Responsible Reporting

  • We emphasize ethical, fact-driven complaint filing to ensure code enforcement is used as a tool for public safety and accountability, not personal grievances.

Open Feedback & Continuous Improvement

  • We encourage input from the public, legal professionals, and code enforcement agencies to refine our processes and maintain the highest ethical standards.
Policy Updates & Revisions

Regular Policy Reviews

  • Our publishing principles are reviewed periodically to stay aligned with current laws, best practices, and public feedback.

  • The latest version of our publishing principles is always available on our website for transparency.

Community & Client Input
