EXIF Data Requirements

Photo Requirements for Filing a Complaint.

Why SNITCH Requires EXIF and GPS Metadata

To protect your privacy and comply with Florida law (SB 60), SNITCH verifies every complaint before it’s filed. That includes checking that submitted photos:

  • Are real and unedited
  • Contain embedded GPS data
  • Match the address of the reported violation

We require all images to include GPS coordinates (EXIF metadata) embedded in the file. This allows us to confirm the photo location and file your complaint with confidence.

No Location Data = No Complaint

If your photo does not include embedded GPS data, your complaint will be rejected. Here’s what disqualifies a submission:

  • Location services turned off
  • Photo cropped, edited, or filtered
  • Third-party apps stripped the metadata
  • Image does not match reported address

Your identity stays private — but the evidence must be verifiable.

If you’ve got a personal beef with your neighbor, take it elsewhere. SNITCH is for real code violations — not score-settling or harassment.

How to Enable Location Services

iPhone (iOS)

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap Privacy & Security
  3. Tap Location Services and ensure it’s ON
  4. Scroll to Camera and set it to While Using the App
  5. Use the default Camera app to take your photo

SNITCH does not track your movements. We only check the photo’s location metadata to confirm the complaint address.

Android (varies by model)

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap Location and ensure it’s ON
  3. Open the default Camera app
  4. Tap the Settings gear icon
  5. Enable Location tags, Save location, or Geo-tagging

Some phones label this setting differently. If unsure, search "location" in your settings menu.

Digital Manipulation? Complaint Denied.

To maintain system integrity and protect all parties involved, we do not accept altered images. That includes:

  • Cropping or resizing
  • Filters or retouching
  • Edits in Photoshop, Canva, or similar tools
  • Screenshots or compressed versions

Only original, unedited photos with embedded GPS data will be accepted.

Why We're Strict

Florida’s SB 60 prohibits anonymous code complaints. We legally file them under our name — but we still need accurate, verifiable proof.

You stay anonymous. The data must be legitimate.

Verified. Filed. Anonymous.

SNITCH is your legal workaround to Florida’s code complaint restrictions. But we don’t cut corners.

  • You remain anonymous
  • We file the complaint under our name
  • Only verified reports are submitted

No GPS match, no filing. No exceptions.
