Venice code enforcement complaints
City desk. Not Sarasota County.
Inside city limits, Venice code complaints go to the City’s Code Enforcement/Community Resource Unit in the Venice Police Department.
SNITCH is a private filing service, not the City. We file as complainant of record. Your name stays off the complaint.
Compliant with Florida SB 60.
Filed with Venice Code Enforcement/Community Resource Unit under our name.
Fear of Retaliation
Venice puts it this way: “Persons making a complaint must provide their name and address.” File it yourself and that record is public under Chapter 119.
Who Handles It
Inside Venice: Venice Code Enforcement/Community Resource Unit. Unincorporated Sarasota: Sarasota County Code Enforcement (Planning and Development Services). Other cities run their own desks.
Agent Filing Rules
We file under our name with the desk that owns the address. If that shop bounces a third-party complainant, that filing does not sit there.

"SNITCH cuts through red tape—handling your code complaints professionally, safely, and always in compliance with Florida law.
- Chaz Stevens, Chief Snitch
We file the real ones.
We reject the rest.

City code. Not a grudge.
Every submission is checked against the Venice code, including Chapter 2, Article VI, Code Enforcement. Hearsay, neighbor wars, and junk filings do not go out. A false complaint is on the client.
Issues Venice highlights: overgrown vegetation, unlicensed or inoperative vehicles, sign regulations, and obstructions on City property or right-of-way.
FL SB 60
Why It Matters
SB 60 DID NOT END VENICE COMPLAINTS
Florida law requires a name and address before most code investigations start. File direct with Venice Code Enforcement/Community Resource Unit and that name is public. SNITCH files as complainant of record.
Compliant filing. Our name on the paper.
See something. File it without becoming the file.

FAQS
Who handles code enforcement in Venice?
The City of Venice Code Enforcement/Community Resource Unit, part of the Venice Police Department. Call (941) 882-7549.
Is my address Venice or Sarasota County?
Venice handles addresses inside its city limits. Unincorporated Sarasota goes to Sarasota County Code Enforcement (Planning and Development Services) at (941) 861-5000. A Venice mailing address is not always inside the city.
What does Venice Code Enforcement not handle?
Not animal control, mosquito control, water restrictions, building construction/permits or graffiti; traffic issues and graffiti go to Venice Police at 941-486-2444, and building issues go to the Building Division.
Can I report a code violation in Venice anonymously?
Not to the city. Venice says: “Persons making a complaint must provide their name and address.” SNITCH is not anonymous either: we file under our own name as complainant of record, so yours stays off the complaint.
What happens if a violation is not fixed?
Unresolved Venice code cases go before the Code Enforcement Board. The seven-member Code Enforcement Board tries to convene at least once every two months, and more or less often as needed, when a Code Enforcement Officer requests it.
Is my name on the complaint? What if a desk will not take an agent filing? Our FAQs answer both.
