St. Petersburg code enforcement complaints

City desk. Not Pinellas County.

Inside city limits, St. Petersburg code complaints go to the City’s Codes Compliance Assistance Department.

SNITCH is a private filing service, not the City. We file as complainant of record. Your name stays off the complaint.

Compliant with Florida SB 60.
Filed with St. Petersburg Codes Compliance Assistance under our name.

Fear of Retaliation

File direct with St. Petersburg Codes Compliance Assistance and Florida law puts your name and address on the complaint. That record is public under Chapter 119.

Who Handles It

Inside St. Petersburg: St. Petersburg Codes Compliance Assistance. Unincorporated Pinellas: Pinellas County Code Enforcement Division. Other cities run their own desks.

Agent Filing Rules

We file under our name with the desk that owns the address. If that shop bounces a third-party complainant, that filing does not sit there.

How It Works

Address first. St. Petersburg or Pinellas County second. Then we file.
How This Works

"SNITCH cuts through red tape—handling your code complaints professionally, safely, and always in compliance with Florida law.
- Chaz Stevens, Chief Snitch

We file the real ones.
We reject the rest.

City code. Not a grudge.

Every submission is checked against the St. Petersburg code, including Chapter 8, Article III, Property Maintenance. Hearsay, neighbor wars, and junk filings do not go out. A false complaint is on the client.

Issues St. Petersburg highlights: foreclosure registry for mortgagees, post-Hurricane Helene and Milton damage assessment cases, illegal dumping and graffiti removal, and civil citations with $40-$500 fines.

FL SB 60

Why It Matters

SB 60 DID NOT END ST. PETERSBURG COMPLAINTS

Florida law requires a name and address before most code investigations start. File direct with St. Petersburg Codes Compliance Assistance and that name is public. SNITCH files as complainant of record.

Compliant filing. Our name on the paper.

See something. File it without becoming the file.

FAQS

Who handles code enforcement in St. Petersburg?

The City of St. Petersburg Codes Compliance Assistance Department. Call (727) 893-7373. Online, use SeeClickFix St. Pete. Email: Codes@stpete.org.

Is my address St. Petersburg or Pinellas County?

St. Petersburg handles addresses inside its city limits. Unincorporated Pinellas goes to Pinellas County Code Enforcement Division at (727) 464-4761. A St. Petersburg mailing address is not always inside the city.

How do I look up a St. Petersburg code violation?

Use Search Codes Database (Click2Gov) on the City’s website.

Does a lender have to register a foreclosed or vacant property in St. Petersburg?

Yes. Mortgagees must register with the city's Foreclosure Registry, generally within 10 days of filing foreclosure on a vacant property (60 days for pending foreclosures), at $230 per year.

Can I report a code violation in St. Petersburg anonymously?

Not to the city. Since July 2021, Florida law requires a complainant’s name and address before most code investigations. SNITCH is not anonymous either: we file under our own name as complainant of record, so yours stays off the complaint.

What happens if a violation is not fixed?

Unresolved St. Petersburg code cases go before a Code Enforcement Board or a Special Magistrate. The Code Enforcement Board meets the fourth Wednesday of each month at 8:30 a.m. in City Hall Council Chambers, 175 5th St. N.; the Special Magistrate meets the fourth Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. at City Hall.

Is my name on the complaint? What if a desk will not take an agent filing? Our FAQs answer both.
