Cape Coral code compliance complaints
City desk. Not Lee County.
Inside city limits, Cape Coral code complaints go to the Code Compliance Division of the Development Services Department.
SNITCH is a private filing service, not the City. We file as complainant of record. Your name stays off the complaint.
Compliant with Florida SB 60.
Filed with Cape Coral Code Compliance under our name.
Fear of Retaliation
Report through Cape Coral 311 or call Code Compliance and the City requires your name and address. That complaint is a public record under Chapter 119.
Who Handles It
Inside Cape Coral: the City’s Code Compliance Division. Unincorporated Lee County: Lee County Code Enforcement. Fort Myers and the other cities run their own desks.
Agent Filing Rules
We file under our name with the desk that owns the address. If that shop bounces a third-party complainant, that filing does not sit there.

"SNITCH cuts through red tape—handling your code complaints professionally, safely, and always in compliance with Florida law.
- Chaz Stevens, Chief Snitch
We file the real ones.
We reject the rest.

City code. Not a grudge.
Every submission is checked against the Cape Coral Code of Ordinances and the property maintenance code the City has adopted. Hearsay, neighbor wars, and junk filings do not go out. A false complaint is on the client.
Common Cape Coral violations the City lists: grass over 12 inches, boats and trailers outside the rear yard, parking on the grass, and inoperable vehicles.
FL SB 60
Why It Matters
SB 60 DID NOT END CAPE CORAL COMPLAINTS
Cape Coral’s complaint page says it plainly: anyone who reports a possible violation must give a name and address. File direct and that name is public. SNITCH files as complainant of record.
Compliant filing. Our name on the paper.
See something. File it without becoming the file.

FAQS
Who handles code enforcement in Cape Coral?
The Code Compliance Division of the Development Services Department, at (239) 574-0613. You can also report through Cape Coral 311: dial 311 inside the city, call (239) 574-0425, or use the Cape Coral 311 portal or app.
How do I look up a Cape Coral code violation?
Search the City’s EnerGov Citizen Self-Service portal. The City says complainants do not get automatic updates, so call Code Compliance at (239) 574-0613 for status.
Can I report a code violation in Cape Coral anonymously?
Not to the city. Since July 1, 2021, the City requires the name and address of anyone reporting a possible violation, with narrow exceptions for safety and environmental cases. SNITCH is not anonymous either: we file under our own name as complainant of record, so yours stays off the complaint.
What happens if a violation is not fixed?
Cape Coral cases go to a Special Magistrate hearing in Council Chambers at City Hall, 1015 Cultural Park Blvd.
Do Cape Coral rentals have to register?
Yes. Since January 1, 2026, residential rentals need an annual registration with the City. Unregistered rentals are referred to Code Compliance.
Is my name on the complaint? What if a desk will not take an agent filing? Our FAQs answer both.
