Tampa code enforcement complaints

City desk. Not Hillsborough County.

In Tampa, code enforcement is the Neighborhood Enhancement Division, which took over the former Code Enforcement and Clean City divisions.

SNITCH is a private filing service, not the City. We file as complainant of record. Your name stays off the complaint.

Compliant with Florida SB 60.
Filed with Tampa Neighborhood Enhancement under our name.

Fear of Retaliation

Tampa states it does not accept anonymous code complaints. File it yourself and your name and address are on a public record under Chapter 119.

Who Handles It

Inside Tampa: the City’s Neighborhood Enhancement Division. Unincorporated Hillsborough: Hillsborough County Code Enforcement. Temple Terrace and Plant City run their own.

Agent Filing Rules

We file under our name with the desk that owns the address. If that shop bounces a third-party complainant, that filing does not sit there.

How It Works

Address first. Tampa or Hillsborough County second. Then we file.
How This Works

"SNITCH cuts through red tape—handling your code complaints professionally, safely, and always in compliance with Florida law.
- Chaz Stevens, Chief Snitch

We file the real ones.
We reject the rest.

City code. Not a grudge.

Every submission is checked against Tampa City Code Chapter 19, Property Maintenance and Structural Standards, and Chapter 27 zoning. Hearsay, neighbor wars, and junk filings do not go out. A false complaint is on the client.

The division handles overgrown lots, inoperative vehicles, structure maintenance, zoning violations, snipe signs, graffiti, and illegal dumping.

FL SB 60

Why It Matters

SB 60 DID NOT END TAMPA COMPLAINTS

Tampa does not accept anonymous code complaints. Florida law requires the complainant’s name and address. File direct and that name is public. SNITCH files with the City as complainant of record.

Compliant filing. Our name on the paper.

See something. File it without becoming the file.

FAQS

Who handles code enforcement in Tampa?

The City of Tampa Neighborhood Enhancement Division, at (813) 274-5545. Complaints go through Tampa Connect online.

Is my address Tampa or Hillsborough County?

The City handles addresses inside Tampa city limits. Unincorporated Hillsborough goes to Hillsborough County Code Enforcement at (813) 274-6600. Temple Terrace and Plant City handle their own complaints.

How do I search Hillsborough County code violation cases?

The County publishes a code violation case search on hcfl.gov. For City of Tampa liens, use the City’s code enforcement lien search.

Can I report a code violation in Tampa anonymously?

Not to the city. The City says it does not accept anonymous complaints and needs the complainant’s name and address to investigate. SNITCH is not anonymous either: we file under our own name as complainant of record, so yours stays off the complaint.

What happens if a violation is not fixed?

Tampa code cases are heard by code enforcement special magistrates. The City also has a Code Enforcement Board.

Is my name on the complaint? What if a desk will not take an agent filing? Our FAQs answer both.
