Fort Lauderdale code enforcement complaints
City desk. Not Broward County.
Inside city limits, Fort Lauderdale code complaints go to the City’s Community Enhancement and Compliance Division in the Community Services Department.
SNITCH is a private filing service, not the City. We file as complainant of record. Your name stays off the complaint.
Compliant with Florida SB 60.
Filed with Fort Lauderdale Community Enhancement and Compliance under our name.
Fear of Retaliation
Fort Lauderdale puts it this way: “A person who reports a potential violation of a code or an ordinance must provide his or her name and address to the governing body of the respective board of county commissioners before an investigation occurs.” File it yourself and that record is public under Chapter 119.
Who Handles It
Inside Fort Lauderdale: Fort Lauderdale Community Enhancement and Compliance. Unincorporated Broward: Broward County Code Compliance. Other cities run their own desks.
Agent Filing Rules
We file under our name with the desk that owns the address. If that shop bounces a third-party complainant, that filing does not sit there.
How It Works

"SNITCH cuts through red tape—handling your code complaints professionally, safely, and always in compliance with Florida law.
- Chaz Stevens, Chief Snitch
We file the real ones.
We reject the rest.

City code. Not a grudge.
Every submission is checked against the Fort Lauderdale code, including Chapter 11, Code Enforcement. Hearsay, neighbor wars, and junk filings do not go out. A false complaint is on the client.
Issues Fort Lauderdale highlights: vacation rental registration, code enforcement lien amnesty program (FY 2027), waterway violations, and sea turtle nesting protections.
FL SB 60
Why It Matters
SB 60 DID NOT END FORT LAUDERDALE COMPLAINTS
Florida law requires a name and address before most code investigations start. File direct with Fort Lauderdale Community Enhancement and Compliance and that name is public. SNITCH files as complainant of record.
Compliant filing. Our name on the paper.
See something. File it without becoming the file.

FAQS
Who handles code enforcement in Fort Lauderdale?
The City of Fort Lauderdale Community Enhancement and Compliance Division, part of the Community Services Department. Call (954) 828-5207. Online, use FixIt FTL. Email: CommunityEnhancement@fortlauderdale.gov.
Is my address Fort Lauderdale or Broward County?
Fort Lauderdale handles addresses inside its city limits. Unincorporated Broward goes to Broward County Code Compliance at 311 or (954) 831-4000. A Fort Lauderdale mailing address is not always inside the city.
How do I look up a Fort Lauderdale code violation?
Use LauderBuild (Code Case Tracker) on the City’s website.
What is the penalty for running an unregistered vacation rental in Fort Lauderdale?
Under the amendment approved Sept. 15, 2026, operating a vacation rental without a valid City Vacation Rental Certificate of Compliance carries a $1,000-per-day civil penalty, and operating with an expired certificate rises from $250 to $1,000 per day. Complaints go to the 24/7 Vacation Rental Hotline at 1-800-685-7453.
Can I report a code violation in Fort Lauderdale anonymously?
Not to the city. Fort Lauderdale says: “A person who reports a potential violation of a code or an ordinance must provide his or her name and address to the governing body of the respective board of county commissioners before an investigation occurs.” SNITCH is not anonymous either: we file under our own name as complainant of record, so yours stays off the complaint.
What happens if a violation is not fixed?
Unresolved Fort Lauderdale code cases go before a Special Magistrate. Special Magistrate hearings start at 9 a.m. on designated dates each month; from Sept. 8, 2026 they meet in Community Room #1004 at Fort Lauderdale Police Department, 1300 W. Broward Blvd.
Is my name on the complaint? What if a desk will not take an agent filing? Our FAQs answer both.
